Lambs Blood Is An Anti-Venom Used For Snake Bites

Yes, sheep’s blood is used to produce antivenom for rattlesnakes. Antivenoms are made by immunizing donor animals, like sheep, with snake venoms. The donor animals produce antibodies that bind to the snake venom, which helps the patient’s immune system eliminate the toxins. Antivenoms are often the primary treatment for snake bites.

Antivenoms are produced by collecting the blood of the donor animal and purifying the antibodies from the plasma. The donor animal is hyperimmunized with non-lethal doses of the venom to produce antibodies.

Antivenoms have been the primary treatment for snake bites for over 100 years. Before antivenoms were available, about 45% of tiger snake bites and more than 90% of taipan bites were fatal.

  1. I love it. It is amazing scientific facts like this that make God’s Word pretty much irrefutable. Take this fact that sheep’s blood neutralizes antivenom, and combine it with things like the fact that Revelation 21:19 names 12 different gemstones that are all anisotropic gems, which was only confirmed in recent years. The Bible is inexhaustible and ceaseless, grand in design as only our God and Creator could write as the author!
