Brenton Septuagint Translation
Job 1:6
And it came to pass on a day, that behold, the angels of God came to stand before the Lord, and the devil came with them.
Job
2:1
And it came to pass on a certain day, that the angels of God came to stand before the Lord, and the devil came among them to stand before the Lord.
Job
38:7When the stars were made, all my angels praised me with a loud voice.
The photos are from the C. Thomson 1904 now my question is this, why did the Septuagints both Translations by two different men in two different generations translate “angels” and not sons of God like modern translations?
Matthews 1537 translates it like this,
Job
1:6Now vpon a tyme, when the seruauntes of God came & stode before the Lord, Sathan came also amonge them.
Job
2:1 It happened also vpon a tyme, that when the seruauntes of God came & stode before the Lorde, Sathan came amonge them, and stode before hym.
Job
38:7
Where wast thou when the mornyng starres praysed me together & all the chyldren of God reioysed triumphantly?
In 1568 the Bishops Bible changed it to “children” of God…
Why did other translations change from angels or servants to sons or children? Thus us what has helped to fuel confusion and false doctrine. It is the verses in Job that people use to confirm their doctrine of the sons of God in Genesis 6 are angels that procreated with human women and that is not truth!
