Today in-between doing things I began to read an article about preterism. I wanted to understand why they believe as they do about the date of Revelation and how they or at least this man Ewing came to this conclusion.
I was an hour into reading then he mentions Wescot, Hort, and Lightfoot…I stopped for a few and said, “LORD, how can I even begin to except this if he sites these as “credible” sources?” Well, I continued to read and saw how those 3 discredited Ireneous as a poor reference in believing that John wrote the book after 70 AD. And that it was before the destruction in 70 AD and that it was a prophecy about the destruction.
Now mind you this author was also saying out of the 4 eschalogical views that historism was the weakest, and not even really worth looking into!
- Historism
- Futurism
- Idealism
- Preterism
Another red flag for me.
He continues to mention, Elliott, Guinness, even, Gibbons s well as other well known reformers, and says they were influenced with the culture around them. So basically their perspective was wrong and has no Scriptural foundation?!
The biggest red flag though to me was for him to keep referring you back to Wescot and Hort! They were evil men, liars, spiritist, and frauds. They woukd seriously talk to entities and stuff! They were in my own words closest Catholics and they refused to see the evidence and facts concerning the fake manuscript supposedly saved from a fire burning in Alexandria Eygpt. They would refer to that as the oldest manuscript of the Holy Scriptures when the very man that had written them admitted it and wanted to have an open discussion with Tsehindorf concerning his “find” which he refused.
So I could not continue reading the article because the credibility was destroyed in my mind after pointing me not once but a few times to those men.
I am unsure if I will continue to read about that belief just not sure probably not. There was a man I listened to, I believe someone sent him to me but not sure named Steve Gregg. It was through him that got me curious on understanding more. But the craziest thing is that
the article I read was written by a man named Ewing but it is almost word for word with this Steve Gregg’s revelation series. So someone copied someone or in that circle they all learn the exact same thing I do not know.
