Baphomet is a symbol that appears in Western esoteric and occult traditions and has been associated with deities, demons, and balance. The name first appeared in trial transcripts during the Inquisition of the Knights Templar in 1307, when the Knights were accused of worshiping Baphomet. Some occultists have attempted to link Baphomet’s origins to the Templars and Gnostics.
