Jesus’s soul went to hell, His Spirit went back to God.
Psalms16:9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory reioyceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.16:10 For thou wilt not leaue my soule in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to see corruption.
Acts 2:24 Whom God hath raised vp, hauing loosed the paines of death: because it was not possible that hee should be holden of it.2:25 For Dauid speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord alwayes before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moued.2:26 Therefore did my heart reioyce, and my tongue was glad: Moreouer also, my flesh shall rest in hope,2:27 Because thou wilt not leaue my soule in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy one to see corruption.
Luke23:46 And when Iesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: And hauing said thus, he gaue vp the ghost.
We are told by Solomon our body returns to dust and our spirit returns to God, that still leaves the soul to be accounted for then which is who you are, your thoughts, your deeds, your personality, your conscience, that is your soul. Which is always at war with your spirit after being born again.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust returne to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall returne vnto God who gaue it.Paul tells us that spirit of man knows the man, as the Spirit of God knows God.
1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, saue the spirit of man which is in him? Euen so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
We read here that when Steven was at his last breath (spirit) he cried out LORD Jesus receive my spirit and then died. The spirit is the breath of God.
Acts 7:59 And they stoned Steuen, calling vpon God, and saying, Lord Iesus receiue my spirit.7:60 And he kneeled downe, and cried with a loud voice, Lord lay not this sinne to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleepe.
These spirits in prison I am almost convinced are the fallen angels that are awaiting judgment in chauns of darkness. Why? Because our spirit returns to God who gave it, and angels are spirit beings they do not have a soul like man does.But I could be mistaken, I am not being dogmatic on it.
1 Peter3:19 By which also he went and preached vnto the spirits in prison,3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the long-suffering of God waited in the dayes of Noah, while the Arke was a preparing: wherein few, that is, eight soules were saued by water.
When God BREATHED into the nostrils of Adam he became a living soul, the spirit is the life, the very breath of God. God is a Spirit and God cannot die that is why He had to come in the flesh in order to be the perfect sacrifice for sin there was no other way than for Him to be made in the likeness of man in order to die as man dies.
But His soul remained ALIVE AFTER DEATH IN HELL PREACHING TO THE SPIRITS IN PRISON! Jesus Christ the Only Begotten Son of God, in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God and the Word became flesh and dwelt among men.
Nope, hell is real the lake of fire is eternal and all who reject Christ Jesus, and the fearful and unbelieving and all liars as well shall have their part in the lake of fire and their torment shall ascend forever and ever. God does not get pleasure of the death of the wicked by any means. In Peter we are told,
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slacke cocerning his promise (as some men count slacknesse) but is long-suffring to vs-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
