An Example Of How Truth And Error Can Appear Alike
In the late 1800’s there was a man who was a famous entrepreneur in the Alberta Territory.
His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets as well as intimate dealings with the Canadian Pacific Railroad.
Beginning in 1885, he devoted several years of his life to government service. While taking a leave of absence he resumed his dealings with the railroad.
In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned North West Mounted Police .
In 1889, this man died suddenly during an important civic function being held in his honor when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed.
HERE IS A REWRITE OF THIS MAN’S STORY.
In the late 1800’s, there was a man from Alberta that was a horse thief, He was arrested and sent to the Alberta Territorial Prison in 1885, He escaped in 1887, robbed the Alberta Rail Flyer (property of The Canadian Pacific Railway) six times. He was recaptured by the North West Mounted Police detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.
If we first heard the horse thief story and accepted it as true, adding the rewrite side of the story would not change anything.
However, if we heard the entrepreneur story and accepted that as true, then adding the horse thief side of the story would change many things.
We would then be caught in the confusion of which “side” to believe.
The entrepreneur story has too many holes in it and when “pressed”, would have to be “blindly” accepted in spite of the facts or believed to be a cover up of the whole truth.
One makes the man look good, the other shows him as he was.
