** This is likely to offend some, but that’s generally what the Truth does when you don’t want to see it or hear it. I wont apologize for stating it or standing on it.
This morning while sitting with the Lord and having my coffee, I was praying about this pandemic….oh, not the virus, but the worldwide panic and the Christians that seem to have tolerated the fear of it, even accepted it. My heart grieves for those cowering in their homes, fueling the hysteria by being glued to the minute by minute reports , 24-7, from the media that report way more assumptions than fact and mostly because of what this is teaching our children through our actions…or worse, through our inactions.
As I sat there I heard Luke 4:39…
Just to give the short version, Jesus had gone to Peters home one evening and when He arrived He saw that Peters mother in law was suffering from a high fever. Of course when they asked Him to help her, He immediately “bent over her and REBUKED THE FEVER and it LEFT HER!!!!(4:39) It goes on to say that she immediately got up and began waiting on them!!!
Did you get that?? He rebuked the fever! The fever wasn’t a symptom…it was a spirit ! He commanded the thing to go and it went! IMMEDIATELY. He didn’t just heal her, He exercised His authority over evil and she was healed.
Are we not the hands and feet of Jesus in this world?? Did He not say that we would do “greater works” than those recorded in the Bible? We cannot just sit back and allow this VIRUS OF FEAR to paralyze us into inaction! We should be out there exercising our authority over this thing.
Is the blood of Jesus suddenly not enough to eradicate any sickness or disease?
Saints, what we tolerate, we accept. What we accept, we expect. What we expect, we speak. What we speak, we get. If the power of life and death are in the tongue…what are you speaking over yourself, your family? “I hope we don’t get the virus” “What are we going to do if we get the virus?”or “I will not get the virus in the name of Jesus!” “My house and my family are covered in the blood of Jesus!” Especially with Resurrection Sunday just passing and having the remembrance of the blood of the lamb being placed over the doorposts to avoid the death angel fresh on our minds. Are we not supposed to stand on the Word of God regardless of what we see? Regardless of what we hear? Regardless of what we feel??? This virus begins with a FEVER!
This action, the healing that Jesus gave Peter’s mother in law, seemed to open the floodgates. Before the night was over, it says that a large crowd surrounded Peters home, that people bearing stretchers and pallets and assisting others to hobble, limp or stagger into the presence of Jesus. The text notes that Jesus laid hands on each one, healing each individually. And as the loving, wholesome, restorative power of Heaven flowed from the Great Physician’s hands, the forces of hell began to retreat like shadows fleeing a bright lantern. “Demons came out of many people shouting “You are the Son of God!” (V. 41)
Church, we have got to rise. We cannot be afraid. We cannot hide in our houses and wait until it passes. We have to come together and take a stand over this “virus” whatever you believe it to be. We ARE HIS HANDS AND FEET. His power flowed THROUGH HIS HANDS. He is IN US. If He is the cure……ARENT WE THE CURE??
It just seems to me that we are being alienated from touching and talking and meeting with each other. You know, where we could come together and BE IN ONE ACCORD. Where we could agree that He is greater than any virus , in His name. Where our corporate prayers and worship can drown out the cries of fear. Perhaps even begin the next wave of revival….Salvations, deliverances and mass healings.
Jesus never missed an opportunity to reach out and touch someone! In fact, He made it a point to make sure that everyone saw that He was unafraid to touch anyone, even the unclean…which was as great a message to the people who saw Him touch the diseased, as it was to the one that He was touching. A touch conveys “I see you. You matter. You are loved. You are not alone. I am with you. Isn’t love the power that rose Jesus Christ from the dead?? And you know, there’s not one reference of Him stopping to put gloves on before He touched a leper. Are we trusting masks and gloves and hand sanitizer to protect us…or are we trusting God? Are we going to listen to the world or are we going to stand and obey the Word? This might just be me, but when He says “go and do likewise “ (Lk. 10:37) I’m pretty sure He meant just that.
“Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1:22
It’s plain as day folks!
