Matthew 11:25-30
Rest for the Weary
25At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. 26Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. 27All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
A yoke is symbolic for partnership. We are to be yoked with Christ we are in partnership WITH HIM! Throughout the Gospels this is seen in the miracles Christ does, but we have missed it ALL TOGETHER! When reading a study by Zac Poonen the Holy Spirit did the AHA! Moment on me, if He does not reveal it to us, we simply won’t really “get” it just head knowledge. When He does the AHA! Moment that is when He opens it up spiritually and goes in our heart then we must at that moment walk in what He opens to us! WOW! WOW! WOW!
We must be submitted unto Christ Jesus He will teach us as the elder oxen teaches the younger as they are yoked together! The younger will move in the direction the elder oxen goes, he will never lag behind or move ahead but will FOLLOW THE LEAD OF THE ELDER! Do you get that? Did you understand that?
We are not forced to be “yoked” as an animal is, we are INVITED by Jesus to be yoked WITH HIM. When we agree He will TRAIN US, teaching us where He goes we go, when He stops we stop, we are to go the same speed that He alone sets, and we are not to lag behind Him, or to go ahead but to walk with Him in the partnership. Jesus does not NEED us, but He has chosen to use us to partner with Him! This brings us great joy as it pleases Him and the FATHER! To be pleasing to the Father should always be our desire, because it was Christ’s!
If we are doing things to please the LORD without Him leading us, we will grow weary and be heavy laden. We cannot please God outside of Christ, we simply cannot it is impossible. So, Jesus wants all of us who are so busy “doing” like Martha to stop and be like Mary and listen waiting upon Him.
Doing anything in our own strength will do you no good it will just wear you out and burn you out. Jesus does not want that.
As I said Jesus does not need us, nor did He need others help while on earth to do miracles. But by using others we see the “partnership” He is showing us, by using these people to participate in the miracles.
In Jesus’ ministry He showed us how this partnership works, let’s read and see ok?
John 2:6-10
Joh 2:6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
Joh 2:7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
Joh 2:8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
Joh 2:9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
Joh 2:10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
Jesus could have just filled the water pots by speaking a Word, but He did not. He told the servants what to do, they obeyed, and He performed the miracle. PARTNERSHIP
Luke 6:9-12
9There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? 10And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. 12When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
Again, Jesus could have simply spoken and the fish as well as bread would have appeared, but He chose to partnership with the young boy working the miracle. PARTNERSHIP
John 11:38-41
38Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 39Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. 40Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? 41Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
Jesus again partnered with others to roll the stone away, again not needful but was done so we would see the entire picture clearly!! PARTNERSHIP!!
There are more examples, but I believe or hoping that your eyes are seeing the TRUTH in this!!
In the three instances that Jesus partnered with these people, each time it sounded foolish right?
- Fill pots with water?
- 5 barley loaves and 2 fish to feed 5 thousand men, then their wives and children too?
- Roll the stone away after being dead 4 days?
Each time though these people stepped out in faith and obeyed no matter how foolish it sounded! This is exactly what He wants from us! To be yoked with HIM! To follow Him. To have faith in Him. To obey what He says, and HE WILL DO THE REST!!
THAT IS IT, nothing too heavy for you, nothing that will weigh you down, nothing to make you weary! He does the HARD PART all you must do is OBEY and leave the rest up to Him!!
Think about after Jesus’ resurrection, they went out to fish and caught NOTHING all night, but when Jesus told them to cast their nets on the other side, what happened? This is part of the GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST that must be preached!!
So many “shepherds” are so busy beating us over the head with condemnation for not witnessing enough (happened to me personally), not obeying the commandments in the Old Testament, for sitting at the Feet of the Master for too long (in their opinion). Works, Legalism, Condemnation that is what is preached mostly in the old time Churches.
Then on the other side of the coin you have, “do what thou wilt is the whole sum of the law”, seeker friendly churches that won’t even speak on sin, or true repentance nor mention the truth of hell and who will go into it for fear they will lose tithe money.
Or you have those preaching O.S.A.S. demonic doctrine saying once you are saved you cannot ever be cast into hell for sin that goes unrepented for. There are many in the New Testament Apostle Paul mentions by name that left the faith after once knowing the LORD. No one LOSES THEIR SALVATION THEY THROW IT AWAY!
This is speaking of Jesus in this Psalm, and what does He say the fullness of joy is?
Psalms 16:11
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
In the PRESENCE OF THE FATHER!!! That is what brings the fullness of JOY!
We should and must have that same mindset and longing. It can only happen when we become one with Christ accepting His invitation to wear His Yoke and to partnership with Him through faith and obedience! We WILL HAVE REST, WE WILL BE WITHOUT A HEAVY LOAD, WE WILL BE ABLE TO RESIST THE DEVIL AND HE WILL FLEE! WE WILL HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE LORD AND NOT IN OURSELVES!!
Are you ready to quit doing things in your own strength? I do not know anyone’s walk with Christ only my own and with a little testimony I will close this study for today.
The LORD told me in late October early November that He was sending me to Turkey. When I heard Him say that, I questioned and said, “ok LORD IF this is from You then You will provide the way.” HE DID! So, after wrestling with others doubts making me almost not go, I booked a flight and went. I handed out dvd’s that I made, but more importantly had many one on one talks with individuals the LORD put in my path. THAT WAS IT!! I had the easy part whatever Christ did afterward I will know when I see Him.
Then He sent me to Rome, Italy this time as a learning experience. I love history and I love to learn, but head knowledge is worthless if you do not have the Wisdom of God showing you what to do with what you have learned. I saw many astounding things that made me cry a lot, a lot of idolatry and paganism that still happens to this day 2020!!
Then He sent me upstate for two weeks, mainly for a little child that needed her faith boosted and reinforced. Throughout the 2 weeks I was blessed, honored, and humble by this child. She loves to pray, and I taught her about the head covering for us ladies to pray with according to Apostle Paul and how we do it out of respect for our head which is Jesus and because of the angels. (Do not say to me that is not for us today, I completely disagree with that. If we begin to pick and choose what parts of the New Testament we will accept for “our” day then those who are living in a same sex relationship can pick and choose what was for the Romans and what is for today)
So, any ways she would ask to pray about 4-5 times a day always with the head covering with only just a few exceptions. Her eagerness and love for the LORD Jesus helped to breath new life in me, and many other lessons He taught me through that experience.
Take the LORDS yoke which is easy, and His burden is light!! He will give you rest for your soul this is a promise and HE IS A PROMISE KEEPER!!
In a partnership there is NO ROOM for PRIDE, SELFISHNESS, or SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS. In PARTNERSHIPS each one has a duty ours is to obey, Jesus’ is to do the rest!!
