What kind of child of God are you? Do you rejoice in correction and rebuke? Or do you seek revenge in rebellion because of open rebuke and correction?
Hebrews 12:4-6
4Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
5And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Here is Peter who took Jesus aside and rebuked Him, but Jesus openly rebuked Peter even calling him Satan!
Matthew 16:21-23
21From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. 22Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. 23But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Peter took the rebuke and continued forward.
After this happened, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John to the Mount of Transfiguration.
Matthew 17:1-9
John 12:1-8
1Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. 2There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. 3Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. 4Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him, 5Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? 6This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. 7Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this. 8For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.
Judas was openly rebuked and corrected about the perfume.
Matthew 26:10-16
10When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. 11For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. 12For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. 13Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her. 14Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, 15And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. 16And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
Judas did not take open rebuke well, afterward he went off to betray Jesus. People can say what they want but it is pretty clear that Judas did this out of revenge and not for gain because he later throws the money at the feet of Chief priests.
When the LORD corrects us or openly rebukes us how do we take it. He does this in love because He is our Father. If He was not our Father then He would not discipline us.
There is not a child of His that He has not corrected, so if you have been serving Him for years and never been corrected you may want to examine your heart because everyone makes wrong choices and mistakes. He will use others to correct us and openly rebuke us. He does this in order to abase the proud, pride is the hardest sin to overcome. Everyone thinks their opinion counts but in truth my opinion your opinion is fit for the trash can compared to God’s Word.
So again are you walking in rebellion because you were hurt that someone you may not care too much for was used by God to correct you?
I can’t answer for no one but myself, but these are things that seriously need to be thought on.
Remember when the prophet went to David and told him a parable and David was angry, but the prophet told him, “You are the man”?
King David repented with a Godly sorrow that every single person could learn by!
God did not reveal this to the entire Nation of Israel, but guess what?
King David DID! He wrote Psalm 51 about his horrible sin and made sure EVERYONE heard it! Why? Because he had true sorrow, him telling others showed he was not above sin, and when God rebukes and corrects it is His love and grace that it is done in.
When I sin which I do more oft than not I will openly tell others because I want NO ONE EVER to look at me or to think of me more than they should.
Only God is infallible I am fallible and when we elevate people higher than we should God will bring them down in your eyes because HE WILL NOT SHARE HIS GLORY WITH NO MAN!
So when you disobey, or say a wrong word, or act out in bad behavior and God corrects you, remember to rejoice because you are a child of God!
